Press Conferences

Press Conferences typically consist of A few rows of chairs for dignitaries and guests A podium for guest speaker(s) Space behind or to the left and right of the audience for press and camera crews A PA system with microphone at podium

What A-V is required –
Your A-V provider should provide the podium, PA system for 20-75 people, a wired or wireless microphone at the podium and a “mult-box”

What is a Mult-Box
A mult box is a distribution amplifier that provides multiple connections for the press to connect their voice or video recorders to.  Press people are familiar with these.  The benefit is the press people do not have to put their microphones on the podium to get a good audio signal.

The mult box needs to be located where the press has good access to it, probably at to the rear of the seating.  

For smaller conferences boxes with six outputs are usually sufficient.  For larger groups more connections should be made available.  A test recording should be made ahead of time to insure quality.

Your basic press conference package for 50-100 people should consist of –

• One or two speaker PA system
• Floor Podium (request one that you can fasten a sign to if necessary) with gooseneck
• Hand-held wired or wireless Microphone (s) or Wireless Lapel Microphone(s)
• Six Channel Mult-box
