Quad
relay controllers are nothing new for our company. We
released our first quad relay controller as one of our
very first products in 1997. Since that time, we have
collected feedback from our customers that have resulted
in the new "Pro" series relay controllers. Just about
everything you could ever want in a quad relay
controller is included...and then some.
The R4x Pro series offers
more commands, on-board memory, E3C compliance (allowing
256 devices to share a single serial port), and
emulation of the original R4x relay controllers, all for
the same price as a standard R4x relay controller.
Marked improvements include a powerful command set,
smaller footprint, fewer components, and two-way
communications.
For starters, there are
now 5 status LEDs indicating power and status of the 4
relays. Our new and improved command set allows
you to set the status of all relays at once or one relay
at a time. In addition, you can now request the
status of individual relays or all relays at once.
New memory features allow
you to store the default on/off status of all relays
when power is first applied to the board. In
addition, the current relay activation pattern can be
stored and recalled into 16 different memory banks,
allowing you to define "macros" that prevent some relays
from activating at the same time.
A new timer function was
added to activate one or more relays for controlled
periods of time.
E3C compliance is now
standard in most NCD devices so it was important to add
this feature as soon as possible. E3C compliance
allows 256 NCD devices to share a single serial port in
any combination.
Since we have so many
users already using our R4x series relay controllers,
one other feature had to be included: Emulation.
Emulation allows the R4x Pro to respond to the original
command set of the R4x relay controllers, allowing
seamless migration of our new design into existing
installations.
